Our collection brings up a serious topic: stress and burnout.

With this collection, we want to embrace this topic and find a solution to this problem: Therapy in an outfit which means heightening the senses by immersing yourself in our experiential looks.

Sensi creates stress relief by using three different techniques:

FIDGETING BEHAVIOUR,

CALMING PRESSURE,

BALANCE& MOVEMENT

There is little to no LGBTQ+ Representation in Children’s TV shows and in Biology books. “IF ONLY I SAW THIS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER” is a sustainable collection made for all bodies, inspired by my childhood. It Is made to make people happy again in these sad times while bringing across a strong message. Garments are made out of recycled materials made for Fun and children such as INFLATABLES and BABY BLANKETS. With this collection I paint a lot picture of how I would want to dress in my childhood if the rules of gender norms weren’t forced on us by society.

Dazzled

My concept is about optical illusions, where you can transform yourself into different shapes and change the reality around u.

A digital collection about the manipulation of perception. Creating an illusion around the human body. Inspired by the OP-ART movement through optical illusions and the Razzle Dazzle ships.

I created plissé pleats with silk organza and gave it a black and white striped print. Because of this combination you get a moiré effect that is see through. All the plissé layers together give it a more 3D perspective and an illusion for your own sight.

Everything you see is different in many ways, so just watch and be amazed. You can observe a lot by just watching.

My concept represents a weightless dream world in which you can escape from today’s society. It takes away the constant pressure on your shoulders and ensures relaxation. With this gesture it seems like all the weight of the stress that has been collecting on your shoulders over the years, falls down and you start to float. The gravity has disappeared for a moment. This surreal world makes people happy. Not only because of the stress relieve, but also the happy colours that are used. Just a bliss moment.

This weightless and airy feeling is what I want to bring into my collection. The designs are made of a light fabric that perfectly matches with that floating feeling. It is a Nylon ripstop that I recycled from an old air balloon and also digitized with special measurements. I combined this with a fabric technique that is airy and flows with the wind.

The digital collection Be Careful What You Wish For, is a visual storytelling of our growing obsession with wealth. And it is not about the rich, but about the desire to be wealthy, at any cost. We are more than ever striving for more money and succes. Thats because we can now compare ourselfs with the richest 0.001% of the world who we see on instagram everyday. Being ambitious is good, but what is the price of this endless striving for more? ''We are all following a toxic dream. What you're sold in this world, is a bag of rotten goods.''

The collection consists out of five outfits and is worn on top of eachother. One model wears it, and when she takes one off, the next outfit is seen.
The software that has been used making this collection is CLO 3D, Daz Studio, After Effects, Blender, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

This video was made during the minor 3D Hypercraft at AMFI.

Zoom couture

At the beginning of the semester I immediately knew I wanted to do something with the way how we dressed changed the last months, because of all the digital meetings and lessons during Covid-19. I also noticed this myself, normally I chose certain garments because I want to express happiness and positivity. Right now, I am choosing garments because of their comfortability. So I started to think about a different way of dressing, how can I be comfortable and still expressing happiness and positivity. I wanted to find a way to make working from home fun again.

This resulted in Zoom Couture, a digital collection of four tops with matching accessories and backgrounds for four specific occasions. I chose for only tops and jackets, because that is the only thing we can see in digital meetings. These four different occasions are:

  • the special meeting or pitch

  • the everyday call for work or school

  • the social events like catching up with friends and family

  • the party call

All these four designs have their own Instagram filter, so you can try this yourself! I bundled the outcomes in a website: https://lottevstijn.wixsite.com/zoomcouture  and for my filters you can search for “zoomcouture” in effects on instagram or visit my profile @lotte.van.stijn

The whole process is on my tumblr: https://lottevanstijn.tumblr.com
